The mission of the Humane Society of Sedona is to actively help animals in the community and to cultivate the same commitment in others. With this in mind The Architecture Company designed a facility that is very open and public friendly. Approximately 9,500 square feet of new construction will be added to the existing 5,100 square foot facility, which will be completely remodeled to house staff and animal support, and veterinary areas. There will be a total of 35 dog kennels, each with an outdoor run, 32 cat display “cottages”, and two indoor and two outdoor cat community rooms.
Special features:
- New 2-level facility with dog kennel wings flanking a courtyard to connect the existing facility with the lower level of the new building.
- Upper level will contain the public entry, a retail area, offices, and a large conference/education room.
- Lower level will house the cat area as well as mechanical and electrical rooms.
- The existing facility must remain open and accessible during construction. Therefore, the new building must be ready for occupancy before any major work on the existing building begins
