The new Tucson Chinese Cultural Center is located on a 3.2-acre site on the north side of River Road just east of La Canada. The master planned site will hold the main building with a meditation garden, a covered basketball/ volleyball court, outdoor patio, playgrounds and gardening areas.
This new 15,600 SF facility will provide:
- Lobby/ recreation area
- Multi-purpose room
- Library / conference room
- Classrooms
- Meeting rooms
- Offices
- Commercial Chinese kitchen for catering & cooking classes.
The style of this building is contemporary Chinese. The street elevation will have brick and stucco with green tinted glass. The main entry feature will be a 27-foot high tower with a zinc finish. The brick finish will give the building a simple elegance and the tower, which represents the bow of the ship, symbolizes the Chinese Community’s strength and presence. This “ship” landing in the desert, symbolizes the migration, challenges, commitment, opportunities and successes of a community that worked hard to create success for future generations.
