Naranja Town Site

Naranja Town Site

This Master Plan of the 214-acre Naranja Town Site for Oro Valley, received the 2001 Arizona State Planners Award.  Numerous meetings were held with the project task force, which consisted of 25 people representing the Town of Oro Valley, stakeholder groups, and special interest groups.  In addition, design charettes were held with community members.  These meetings allowed the project team to understand the community’s needs, to determine important elements to be included, to choose the best locations for these elements, and to bring the design to consensus.

Items that were considered for inclusion in the development of the site includes: 4,000 seat outdoor amphitheater, an indoor 300 seat auditorium, a fine arts facility, an ice arena, and recreation center.  It will also contain youth and adult sports fields, sports courts, picnic areas, playgrounds, community gardens, hiking, and multi-use trails, offices for police and parks and recreation departments, and commercial / retail areas.
