Vida Nueva Apartments

We are working with Compass Affordable Housing, an Arizona non-profit corporation, to improve and rejuvenate the living spaces of this supportive transitional housing for adults with disabilities. The current site has a parking lot located between two apartment building that is not conducive to creating a community environment. We have moved the parking lot to an adjacent site to allow the current parking lot to become a courtyard. This courtyard allows a healthier and safer environment for residents by creating an enclosed landscaped area with a ramada, horseshoe courts, community garden, basketball court, and patios. The plants used to landscape the site are native to our unique Sonoran Desert. The new parking lot also contains native landscaping and rain water harvesting. All 12 apartments, totaling 4,492 sq ft., will be renovated with new kitchens and bathrooms, new energy efficient windows and appliances, improved insulated thermal building envelope, and the redesign with improved accessibility. This project is registering with Pima County Regional Residential Green Remodeling to achieve a rating of Silver. Our goal is to create a stronger community empowering for the residents of Vida Nueva and for the Tucson community.
