Tucson Children’s Botanical Garden
We worked with the Tucson Botanical Garden, a non-profit organization, to create a The Tucson Children’s Botanical Garden excites children and adults by creating areas that reveal nature’s magic in ones own backyard. The gardens are currently organized by several types of gardens, such as the Barrio Garden, Herb Garden and the Cactus Garden. Seven of these gardens were chosen to have mini children’s gardens. These are intended to educate topics such as water use, plant growth from seed to pollination and recycling within the plant community. To lead children to the different gardens, tiled roots were placed on the ground. The roots originate from the family plaza where families are able to plan their adventure through the garden.
The final garden along the primary circulation path is the main children’s garden, which includes a green house, lath house, saguaro house, tree house and demonstration gardens. The main children’s garden provides a space for children to learn while playing and for adults to explore and find ideas to implement in their own backyard. This project is currently on hold.
