Richard Fe Tom, AIA, NCARB
Principal, Lead Designer
Richard has more than 25 years of experience with educational, commercial, industrial, recreational and historic facilities. He is talented in master planning, programming, design, and project management. With degrees and practical work experience in both mechanical engineering and architecture, Richard is able to effectively communicate and understand engineering systems in terms of architectural solutions. Management of the design process and continuous quality control help achieve projects that exceed expectations for budget control, schedule compliance and functionality.

Nancy S. Tom
Principal, Chief Administrator
Nancy is responsible for the oversight of a broad range of personnel and project management functions which include operations management, business development, proposal management, contract administration, human resources, and financial administration. Nancy received a BS degree in Nutrition from Arizona State University and an M.S. in Dietetics from the University of Arizona with a focus on nutrition analysis and education. Throughout her business practice, she has taken numerous seminars to continually hone her business acumen and management skills in response to an architectural practice.

Andrew Abernathy, RA
Special Projects
Andrew's experience in Project Management, Business Operations, Marketing and Building Information Modeling (BIM) has given the Architecture Company an increased depth of capability. BIM is a method of delivering architectural projects which have a very high level of quality and in return produces greater value to Owners both in immediate construction but also in long-term value and sustainability. The Architecture Company is completely committed to the BIM process and Andrew is constantly evaluating new technological and management advancements in the industry to provide efficient and economical service to all of our clients.

Chris Anderson, RA, LEED AP
Director of Projects
Chris Anderson is a registered architect and LEED accredited professional who has worked in the construction industry for 20 years. He has experience as a Project Manager, Project Architect, and Construction Administrator. In his current position as Director of Projects and Project Manager his diverse experience benefits the client through his ability to achieve schedule, budget and design goals during construction while maintaining a client advocacy role. He has been a member of The Architecture Company team for 10 years.

Dick Karkau, RA
Quality Control Manager
Dick has over 37 years of experience with municipal, industrial and commercial projects. As our Quality Control Manager, his role is to coordinate the work of all consultants, ensure that the design is buildable, and no conflict exists between disciplines, that quality materials are used and the documents produced are complete, correct, and understandable. Quality documents will provide for better construction pricing during the bidding phase.

Mark Schaye
Project Manager
Mark is a skilled Project Manager and is responsible for maintaining project schedule and budget and assigning resources as needed. Mark’s strengths and experience are in public presentation, listening to client’s needs and designing and coordinating function solutions. He has worked along side Richard Fe Tom for 10 years assisting him with master planning and programming.

Karen Berchtold, AICP
Planner
Karen is an award-winning, versatile urban planner. She has worked as a planner for the Town of Concord, Massachusetts, the City of Nashua, New Hampshire, as well as the Capitol Region Council of Governments in Hartford, Connecticut. In 2004 she was awarded Partner of the Year by the New Hampshire Celebrates Wellness Program for the implementation of the Livable, Walkable Community Program for the City of Nashua. Karen now resides in Tucson, Arizona and is a valuable addition to The Architecture Company team.

Eric Fike
CAD / Revit Manager, Job Captain
Eric has been with The Architecture Company for 7 years as a designer, CAD / Revit Manager, and Job Captain. He specializes in educational projects and has been involved in the documentation on over 30 schools. As CAD / Revit Manager Eric is continually evaluating our production systems to maximize our efficiency and ability to collaborate.

Sara Lynch, LEED AP
Architectural Modeler / Graphic Designer
Sara’s expertise is in computer modeling and graphics. She has been doing 3D architectural modeling for 6 years and is currently using the Building Information Modeling (BIM) method which is the emerging standard of excellence for the design and construction industry. Sara is also a LEED accredited professional and is currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with a concentration in renewable energy systems.
